Welcome to Rotrex Group Ltd

Formerly known as LGH Group, Rotrex is a UK-based business providing winching and facade access services to construction, industrial, utilities and facilities management customers.

There have been some major changes in the structure of the business in recent years, resulting in a smaller but strong and focused operation in our two main areas of expertise.

In 1970, Lifting Gear Hire Ltd (LGH) was founded by Bill Parkinson in Atherton, near Manchester. Throughout the next three decades, LGH grew to be the largest lifting gear and winching plant hire company in the UK, with successful operations in the USA, Netherlands and Germany.

In the early 1990's LGH became LGH Group plc and acquired NIM Winches based in Alfreton, Derbyshire, greatly strengthening the Group's capacity in pulling and winching expertise. Later that decade, a suspended access maintenance business was acquired and named NIM Suspended Access, and later renamed LGH OnSite. NIM Winches was renamed LGH Winches.

In 2005 a demerger took place, resulting in two separate companies in the UK -  Lifting Gear Hire Ltd (resurrecting the old company name), comprising the 38 Lifting Gear Hire branches, LGH Training and LGH Megalift, and LGH Group plc comprising LGH Winches, LGH OnSite and LGH Rigging.

Following many years of a solid market share but little real growth in Lifting Gear Hire, the shareholders decided the lifting gear business would fare better under new owners. Lifting Gear Hire Ltd was sold to Speedy Hire plc in October 2006, and now operates as Speedy LGH.

To avoid any confusion, LGH Group plc was renamed Rotrex Group Ltd in 2007. LGH Winches became Rotrex Winches, LGH OnSite became Rotrex OnSite, and LGH Rigging now trades as Rigging Services Direct Ltd.

Rotrex Group Ltd is still owned by the founders of Lifting Gear Hire, as are LGH operations overseas in the USA, Netherlands and Germany.
